"I would not want my children to repeat the scenario of violence in adult life" – the story of Oksana, a domestic violence survivor
"I ran away from a person who behaved terribly and was dangerous. He allowed himself to raise his hand at me. He initiated terrible scandals, tried to put pressure on me, and humiliate me. My son saw all this," says Oksana.
Before the full-scale war began, the woman and two children lived with her husband. However, he began to show violence. Then, Oksana tried to overcome it and start a new life as an independent and self-sufficient woman thanks to the "VONA" career hub.
In this video, Oksana told UNFPA how her life changed due to domestic violence and what helped her to move forward.
The "VONA" career hub project is implemented by UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, with the financial support of the Embassy of Great Britain.
