On August 18 and 19, 2020, in Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk, the workshops for entities engaged in the application of legal mechanisms for protection of victims of domestic and gender-based violence were held. During the workshops, the legislation, local practices and issues related to the application of emergency protection orders, restraining orders, conducting preventive activities with perpetrators and joint action in case of violation of these orders by perpetrators were actively discussed. In addition, the Procedure for Interaction of Entities Implementing Measures on Prevention and Combating of Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, developed at the Oblast level, was discussed in connection with the issuance of restrictive orders to perpetrators. Representatives of Dobropillia joined the workshop held in Pokrovsk, and the workshop in Kramatorsk was held in the format of an extended meeting of the City Coordination Council on Family Policy, Gender Equality, Prevention and Combating of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking. The workshops were attended by representatives of authorized bodies of City Councils, local social services, Offices of Children’s Services, the police, courts, Prosecutor’s Office, Probation Departments, legal aid centers, NGOs.  

The activities were initiated by the Donetsk Oblast Department of Family, Youth and Mass Events of the National and Patriotic Education and implemented with the support of the UN Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme. The UN Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme is implemented by four UN Agencies: the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The Programme is supported by thirteen international partners: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the US Embassy in Ukraine, as well as the Governments of the United Kingdom, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.
