UNFPA Ukraine and Kremenchuk City Council representatives have agreed on terms of joint cooperation activities and decided to launch a number of projects in Poltava region.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in the UNFPA Representative Office in Ukraine, shows the commitment by the stakeholders to enhance the role of youth leadership and involvement to develop the youth friendly social environment.

The agreement commits the Kremenchuk City Council and UNFPA Ukraine to establish the productive cooperation through the organization and support of the Interregional Youth Forum in August 2014 and the Piece Day celebration in September 2014. The parties agreed to jointly launch a promotion campaign for healthy lifestyle among young people through the thematic initiatives “Say no to smoking” (May 2014) and “I am against drugs” (June 2014) as well as through conducting the thematic workshops at the youth summer camp “Zoriany”(July 2014).

The MoU was signed by UNFPA Representative for Ukraine Ms. Nuzhat Ehsan, Deputy Mayor of Kremenchug city Mr. Vitaliy Maletsky and Head of the Department of Family, Children and Youth of Kremenchug City Council Ms. Olga Usanova.

During the meeting after the signing ceremony, the parties discussed challenges that young people are facing in the rapidly changing social and political context of Ukraine and the possibilities to empower them to participate actively in society to improve their own lives and advocate for their needs and interests though joint efforts of UNFPA Ukraine and Kremenchuk City Council.
