calendar_today 06 July 2012

In June 2012 UNFPA conducted four 3-day training workshops for medical and social service providers in Odessa and Mykolayiv on youth-friendly approaches in delivering HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STI) prevention services.

Workshops strengthened capacity of local service providers (AIDS Centers, Reproductive health and Family planning Centers, STI clinics, and Centers of Social Services for Youth and nurses from technical vocational schools) in their ability to provide quality youth-friendly HIV/STI-related prevention services to young people – students of technical vocational schools in Odessa and Mykolayiv.

As a result, a total of 80 professionals (40 from each region) were trained on youth-friendly approaches in delivering HIV/STI prevention services to students of technical vocational schools. Training was provided by the certified national trainers - specialists in Youth Friendly approach.

This intervention will ensure that students of technical vocational schools who approach health and social services in their regions receive top-quality youth-friendly help in the area of HIV/STI prevention.
