23 of December 2014, United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA) on request of MOH of Ukraine, delivered the truck with humanitarian aid - UNFPA RH Kits for provision of obstetric-gynecology care.
The total cost of these kits designed for surgery and resuscitation for mothers and newborns is about 1 million UAH. Medical kits will meet the needs of obstetric-gynecology assistance for 1 million 800 thousand people for three-month period.
The universal UNFPA medical kits include surgical instruments, suture material, consumables and most necessary medicines: analgesics, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, hemostatic drugs and infusion solutions.
According to the MOH distribution plan, medical kits will be delivered to health facilities of Lugansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzya, Kharkiv, Poltava, Kyiv and Odessa oblasts. Those areas have the largest number of internally displaced people - most of them are women.
In 2014, UNFPA Ukraine allocated significant amounts of financial aid for the needs of internally displaced persons, in particular, over 20 thousands individual hygiene kits were purchased and delivered to the areas with the largest number of internally displaced people, paid for accommodation and recreation of 200 children and adolescents.
For the programs of humanitarian assistance, the Fund received funding from the US Government and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).
