UNFPA, jointly with WHO and State Dermatovenerological Service of Ukraine are continuing a series of training workshops for dermatovenerologists on syndromic approach for sexually transmitted infections (STI) treatment in most-at-risk populations, that was initiated last year.
The first workshop was held on 15-19 May 2014 in Kiev. The second one is planned on 19-21 May in Kiev, and the third one - on 2-4 June in Lviv.
The workshops will equip dermatovenerologists (from both oblast and rayon levels) with up-to-date information on main principles and methods of syndromic approach to STI treatment to ensure effective prevention of sexually-transmitted HIV infection.
It will also help to build practical skills in applying syndromic approach to STI treatment in their medical practice. During the workshops the participants will also be introduced to the new WHO/UNFPA/UNAIDS Operational Guidelines for prevention and treatment of HIV and STIs among key populations (particularly among sex workers).
