calendar_today 23 December 2019

On June 21, 2019, L'Oréal Ukraine launched the 3rd season of the Beauty for Everyone project to help women affected by domestic or gender-based violence gain free education in the beauty industry. The program is implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with the support of the L'Oréal Foundation.

The purpose of the project is to provide a special course to teach women in difficult living conditions the basics of hairdressing skills and to help them build their way to a better life.

A group of 30 women began a long-term (6 months) hairdressing training on June 21, 2019. The course consisted of 21 lessons per month and took place in Kyiv. The trainees will join a team of 5,565 people who completed free training in 2018 in different parts of the world. Today, the Beauty for Everyone program is presented in over 25 countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

According to UNFPA Ukraine, more than 1 million women in our country are victims of physical and sexual abuse each year, and one in five women in Ukraine has been subjected to domestic violence. Only 15.9% of victims turn to law enforcement authorities and 1% apply to medical and social workers. Victims of domestic violence are in dire need of support, as many women may have suffered violence for a long time, losing self-confidence, faith and ability to realize their potential. In addition, affected women often do not work because they are look after children or have to combine work and household chores, earning insufficient earnings, and thus are unable to start a new life without an aggressor. Therefore, such women really need programs that allow them to acquire a profession and a job in the future. L'Oréal is proud of having been an expert in the beauty industry for over a hundred years. We believe that the success of the company is impossible without a clear civic position and sharing its achievements with the public.

That is why in 2009, the L'Oréal Foundation launched the Beauty for Everyone project aimed at full-scale training. The L'Oréal Foundation helped socially disadvantaged women believe in themselves and start their careers in the beauty industry. L'Oréal has launched long-term, free, high-quality educational programs in over twenty countries. Thus, acting within the Beauty for Everyone mission, L'Oréal presents it not only as a brand, product or service, but also as a social responsibility required for the company's operations both in our country and in global markets.

The training course was specially designed for this project. The course guarantees that all students will have the skills to start a career in the salon business.
