Swedish photographer Johan Bävman's world-renowned exhibition "Swedish Dads" (#SwedishDads) opens at Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky's Center. The photo series includes daddies who spent at least six months at home caring for their children, as well as 5 stories of Ukrainian celebrity dads.

The exhibition is organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine and the Swedish Institute.

In his photographs, Johan Bävman focuses on responsible fatherhood and explores why these fathers decided to stay home with their children, what experience they received, and how it changed relationships with their partners and children. The exhibition aims to demonstrate the impact of gender equality in paternity on individuals and society.

“Being a dad is always a huge responsibility. Often, the father is detached from parenting. For example, 63% of Ukrainian men think that childcare is a woman's duty. In fact, there are many benefits to full involvement of daddy in upbringing. I am also a father and I know for sure that it helps to balance work and home and improve relationships with my wife”, says UNFPA Representative in Ukraine Jaime Nadal.

The exhibition will also display 5 photo portraits of famous Ukrainian men who are raising a child along with their mother. These are the families of the Antytila band frontman Taras Topolya, the chairman of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission Timur Khromayev, the players of FC Shakhtar Taras Stepanenko and Serhiy Krivtsov, the head of EdCamp Ukraine Oleksandr Elkin.

The exhibition will be available for viewing from September 23 to October 16, 2019.
