Ecodad Can Do Anything!
To mark the Father’s Day, the NGO ‘Fishermen Community of Ukraine’ rafted 58 km along the Siversky Donets River! The purpose of the event was to involve dads in quality activities and improve their communication with children.
Thus, 10 teams - 22 participants - from the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts saw the landscapes of the Milova flora and the Oak tract, a ford across the river, which is over 150 years old, 7 varieties of the shoreline - from silt to stone. During the trip, the families also cleaned 5 beaches and found illegal fishing gear.
Here is a short video about the rafting and how the 5 days spent with the children helped the dads to connect and learn more about the interests of their children.
The rafting was supported by the United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme, which is implemented by four UN Agencies: the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The Programme is supported by twelve international partners: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB) as well as the Governments of the United Kingdom, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.
