Today, October 13, 2023, marks one year since the launch of the hotline for men available at the number 2345. During this time, 8556 consultations were provided by professional psychologists. Overall, 4,289 men received professional psychological help.

«In 20 minutes of conversation, the psychologist helped me analyze the situation and identify the root of the problem. I really felt better»

«The psychologist made me realize what I was doing wrong in my relationships with my family. She advised me how to change the situation and gave me confidence»

«I was afraid to dial 2345 because I had never talked to a psychologist before. After the conversation, I was amazed at how simple it was. Grateful for the opportunity to be healthy»

These are just some of the reviews of Ukrainian men during the year of the support line’s operation.

Prior to launching it, we conducted a survey among men about their attitudes towards receiving psychological help. It turned out that almost every third person is in a state of constant distress. At the same time, 80% of respondents stated that men should solve their problems on their own.

Over this year of work, it became painfully evident that men need psychological support. However, due to gender stereotypes, they do not identify this need for themselves.

The UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund, will continue developing the hotline further. It is important for us to help as many men as possible to stabilize their emotional state, find internal resources to get out of difficult situations and realize problematic aspects of behavior.

The hotline is toll-free, confidential and available 24/7.

You should simply dial 2345.

The hotline is implemented by UNFPA Ukraine and the NGO “Innovative Social Solutions” with the support of the UK Government as part of the EMBRACE project to strengthen response and prevention of gender-based violence in Ukraine.
