This year we supported 5 youth initiatives in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts as part of the continuation of last year’s Myropolis, which this year was implemented in the communities.
Thus, the first such initiative was a rafting for the leaders of the Donetsk Oblast youth movement called ‘Youth is Rowing 2020’, which took place this weekend.
For the first time, the event brought together 25 representatives of Youth Councils from cities, Rayons and ATCs of the Donetsk Oblast. The main goal to promote networking and communication between the participants, involving them in discussing common issues and finding common solutions was achieved. In particular, the participants of the rafting developed projects in 6 areas: youth social policy, youth personnel policy, sports, environment, health care and transport infrastructure. Specialists of the Department of Family, Youth and Mass Events of the National and Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Oblast State Administration also joined the discussion of the projects. And we hope that the jointly developed ideas and time spent on the rafting will give impetus to the intensification of activities of Youth Councils in the Donetsk Oblast communities and their maximum cooperation.
The event was held within the United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme which is implemented by four UN Agencies: the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The Programme is supported by thirteen international partners: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the US Embassy in Ukraine, as well as the Governments of the United Kingdom, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.
