On April 26, 2019, the first week of the "Healthy Challenge" program was completed, focusing on physical activity among young people studying in vocational and higher education facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Mykolayiv and Odessa oblasts. The program was organized by CSR-Ukraine, CSR Development Center, and UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund.
14 higher education institutions from four regions of Ukraine carried out a number of different activities related to physical health of young people. Students and teachers took part in flashmobs, games, badminton competitions, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, chess and even multiathlons. In addition, educational events were held to attract young people to sports and active recreation. Some educational institutions organized a grand opening of the program, which was attended by representatives of the city administration and prominent athletes.
As a result, 8,325 students, teachers and community residents were covered by the educational institutions activities.
"The physical activity week helped the students to build a team spirit and use the opportunity to compete with teachers in various sports, which united them around fitness activities and healthy lifestyle. Moreover, college students and teachers were awarded with prizes and certificates for winning competitions", says Olena Tsarenko, Director of the College of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi Mykolayiv National University.
From May 6 to 12 the participants will implement subsequent activities focused on healthy eating.
