30, May, Simferopol, UNFPA Representative Ms.Nuzhat Ehsan participated in the meeting «Regionalization of perinatal care: first results from the regions covered by the National Project “New Life” chaired by Ms. Iryna Akimova, First Deputy Head of the President of Ukraine Administration.
Meeting participants- Ministry of health Senior management and health care managers from the regions discussed progress achieved so far in the process of perinatal health care reform, achievements and challenges in the regionalization of care implementation.
In her speech, Ms. Ehsan highlighted that UN Agencies and UNFPA in particular declared that their priority area of support and contribution would be quality of care improvement, further promotion of knowledge and use of modern perinatal technologies and adherence to evidence based medicine. UNFPA has already contributed through various capacity building activities, and stands ready to continue it support in the future. Ms Ehsan has also stressed that quality of care improvement is an area where simple transfer of expertise and knowledge is not enough, but a change of mindset of all involved health care managers and practitioners is required to depart from past legacy of health care and move to modern quality and patient oriented cost-effective solutions.
