Liubov's story to Active Aging Month

calendar_today 23 September 2021

Liubov Naumenko, aged 84. A fan of modelling, takes part in music video shooting. Regularly visits dancing club with her husband – she met him there in early 2000s.

What do you consider to be the long life secret?

Both me and my husband are very active and try to live a healthy life – sometimes there is no time even to sit. I love making fresh juices and smoothies – you have to wash and cut fruits, then clean  the juice extractor which may take up to 30 minutes. Only healthy breakfast – porridges, cottage cheese, omelette with vegetables, some healthy lunch as well. We are in constant motion and that keeps us away from despair.

What is your advice to young people?

The best contribution is your personal development when you don’t rely on anyone else. I was the seventh child in the priest's family, after the war we were left alone. My mother became a role model for me. Do not forget about physical training and acclimation.

What do you like the most in this period of your life? What have you been proud of within recent years?

I love watching my adult children navigating their own way in life. I raised them since early years and I am very proud of their achievements and personal qualities.
A lot of strength is taken from the relationship. Anatolii and I are almost of the same age, we have similar views: we survived the post-war times, the Soviet Union era, we have a lot in common.
In March we both got COVID-19. I lost my hair - I had beautiful curls, but all this beauty vanished after the disease.
We are members of the club called “LifeLover”, we often go  dancing and visit the beach in summer. Also travelled to Turkey and Egypt.
We are inspired by the shooting process like today's for UNFPA – so happy to share our experiences.
