On October 16, 2018, a regional conference "Countering Domestic and Gender-Based Violence at the Territorial Community Level" was held in the city of Nova Kakhovka, in Kherson oblast.
The conference was attended by 60 people, including the Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Nataliya Fedorovich, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine Pavlo Zamostyan, Deputy Head of Kherson Oblast State Administration Vadym Chaban, as well as representatives of the Kherson Oblast Center for Social Services for Family, Children and Youth, social protection agencies, education departments, children's services, probation authorities, the National Police, the head of the mobile team for social and psychological assistance, Chief Doctor of the Municipal Institution "Regional Rehabilitation Treatment Hospital" of Kherson Oblast Council, representatives of the Regional Center for Secondary Legal Aid, and representatives of amalgamated territorial communities of Kherson oblast.
Nataliya Fedorovich noted that violence against women and domestic violence are a significant challenge for Ukrainian society:
«During the last two years, a number of important legislative acts aimed at prevention of the domestic and gender-based violence are adopted in Ukraine, which are intended to strengthen the protection of the victims, and punish the domestic violence perpetrators. The key task on the local level is to enhance interdepartmental interaction between all relevant institutions, public officials, social workers, educational workers, health staff".
