Humanitarian aid – RH Kits for provision of obstetric-gynecology care - delivered to Ukraine by UNFPA

Total value of the delivery is about UAH 2.2 million (USD 100 thousand)


Today, UN Population Fund in Ukraine delivered humanitarian aid – RH Kits for provision of obstetric-gynecology care – to the state enterprise "Ukrvaktsyna" of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The universal RH kits include surgical instruments, suture material and the most necessary medicines, analgesics, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial for surgery and for emergency aid for women in childbirth and newborns, in the case of rape and more.

According to Mr. Pavlo Zamostian, Assistant Representative of UNFPA office in Ukraine, it is important that these kits can be used not only in ordinary hospitals, but also in field hospitals, since they contain all necessary tools and equipment for the treatment of hands, wounds, surgical sterilization of equipment, disinfection and water heating, etc.

Mr. Pavlo Zamostian noted that this aid should be sufficient to hold about 18 thousand normal births and 15 thousand births with complications.

Ms. Valentyna Kolomeychuk, Acting Director of the Department of Healthcare of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, informed these kits are designed primarily to provide health care for women from among IDPs who are going to give birth and will be distributed among the medical institutions in the areas with largest amounts of IDPs – in Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya and Poltava regions.

Humanitarian aid will be delivered to the hospitals according to distribution plan of the Ministry of Health in the coming days.
