October 13-14, 2018, Kyiv - Center for Corporate Social Responsibility Development (CSR), together with UNFPA Ukraine and SAP, held the Hackathon for schoolchildren "Hack4Good 2.0: How to make STEM-professions interesting for girls?" under the #GirlsSTEM initiative. The partners of the event were the Institute for the Education Content Modernization of the Ministry of Education and Science, UNIT Factory, ITVDN.

The organizers selected 40 schoolgirls to take part in the Hackathon. The participants united in 7 teams and worked for two days to solve the task. During two days, the mentors helped the girls with the following projects:

- Design thinking session by Oleh Hopaniuk from SAP;

- Design workshop by Karina Semenko, coordinator of the STEM Center for CSR Development;

- Workshop on team communications and roles by Oleksandr Marchenko, MaxPay company.

The organizers also invited women who work in "unusual" professions to show girls that they do not need to limit themselves to the common professions.

Inspired and knowledgeable, girls worked in teams and at the end of the day seven projects were presented on how to make STEM-professions interesting for girls.

The best projects were awarded with from the organizers and certificates for the monthly free training at ITVDN IT courses:

1-st place was awarded to "STEMyushka" team, who developed a series of short workshops for studying STEM subjects that will be presented on the basis of three schools. Girls will also record video with demonstrations of their workshops on the STEMyushka page in Facebook.

2nd place was awarded to "STEMchiki" team. Girls created motivational clips on different topics for the girls who seek to develop in the STEM area. These videos are targeted at parents, schoolchildren and young girls at the same time, because the videos focus on such topics as success stories, family support, tips from young girls who chose STEM. The video and all the information about the project can be found on the Instagram account STEM_for_everyone.

The "SIVIAN" team who created the STEMAshenka character, who is the protagonist of the stories about her life, telling about how she discovers the new STEM areas and encounters them in life, won the 3-rd place. These stories are distributed through 3 social networks - Facebook, Instagram, Telegram.
