Neither air alarms nor winter hinders our medical experts in providing services in the field of sexual and reproductive health to those who need it. Even in the most severe weather conditions, mobile gynaecological teams and barrier-free access gynaecological offices of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, continue their extremely important work in 23 regions throughout the country.

In the first week of 2024, from 1-6 January , a mobile team of doctors from the Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of Kharkiv city worked in the settlements of the Pechenizke community (Kharkiv region). Such visits are carried out quarterly by doctors from the regional center.

"Ukrainian women have the right to access quality medical care regardless of the region and its weather conditions. Therefore, our specialized gynecological medical teams ensure continued access to preventive examinations, consultations, and treatment for women of all social groups and age ," adds Vitaliy.

Mobile gynecological teams demonstrate flexibility and a high level of service, moving around the city or to rural areas where access to medical care may be limited. The specialists help detect and treat various diseases, ensuring safety and comfort for all patients.

In the settlements of the Pechenizke community (Kharkiv region), mobile teams of doctors from the Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of Kharkiv city provided services through  a gynaecologist and pediatrician, conducting diagnostics, providing general medical consultations, prescribing treatment, and prophylactic measures. Within a week, 119 patients sought help from doctors.

Assistance in sexual and reproductive health is an essential component of a sustainable healthcare system, and thanks to the tireless work of medical professionals and support for specialized medical services even in the harshest frosts, women can have confidence in their health and well-being.

Mobile gynecological teams and barrier-free access gynaecological offices operate as part of UNFPA humanitarian response activities, with financial support from the European Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Canada, France, and the Republic of Korea.
