On July 10, at 46 Lisova Street, the first daycare centre for people affected by domestic and gender-based violence in Irpin was opened, along with a meeting of the Coordination Council on prevention of domestic and gender-based violence in the Irpin City Territorial Community.

The daycare centre is a free, accessible, and safe space where survivors of violence can receive comprehensive assistance in comfortable conditions, including:

consultations with a psychologist and social worker;

  • legal consultations;
  • social support services aimed at overcoming or minimizing the consequences of domestic and gender-based violence;
  • information about services provided by other organizations and institutions involved in preventing and responding to violence.

The city, having endured occupation and sheltered a significant number of internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups affected by the military actions, will greatly benefit from this service.

Thanks to UNFPA and the financial support of Avon, the premises were renovated, and new furniture and equipment were purchased. Avon made a charitable contribution of $160,000 to create four daycare centres for Social and Psychological Assistance across the country, namely in Irpin, Kryvyi Rih, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lutsk.

“I am grateful to the local authorities of Irpin and our partners at Avon Ukraine that together we continue to work in the field of combating domestic and gender-based violence, ensuring that survivors have free access to high-quality specialized services. Services like this daycare centre will help survivors overcome the consequences of violence,” said Massimo Diana.

“As a socially responsible business, Avon Ukraine cannot remain indifferent to the events around us. Supporting women and their well-being is one of the company's priorities. In cooperation with UNFPA, we are doing everything possible to ensure that every woman feels safe and knows she is not alone with her problem, and that she can count on qualified help. I am very proud of our long-standing commitment to standing against gender-based violence, which is why we continue to work to provide more support to survivors of violence and make such assistance accessible. A better world for women is a better world for all,” said Marina Sukhetska, Internal Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist at Avon Ukraine.
