For the second time this year the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) cooperated with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine to provide children and adolescents from Luhansk region with the opportunity to spend three weeks with their peers in a recreational camp.
About 340 children visited the recreational camp “Zoryaniy” near Kremenchuk, Poltava region, in August. Among them the group of 81 children arrived from the areas of Luhansk region affected by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO).
In addition to traditional sports, dance, recreational entertainment and multiple handmade workshops, the children also went through a course of psychological rehabilitation. They regularly met with experienced coaches to acquire team building skills and expand knowledge about healthy lifestyle. In addition, the adolescents had special sessions on reproductive health. The young travelers participated in a poster contest on the topic of risky behavior prevention and in the quest "Healthy Living." The most active participants received awards in various categories from the director of the camp.
Children and adolescents visited the city of Kremechuk and its surroundings, as well as local natural attractions. They openly admired the beauty of Poltava landscapes and hospitality of local people and admitted that they would be happy to come back to this region again.
Earlier this year, in June UNFPA Office in Ukraine supported the transfer, accommodation and recreation of Luhansk region children and adolescents from affected areas in the recreational camp “Tsarynka” near Slavske, Lviv region.
