UNFPA Office in Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, supported the transfer, accommodation and recreation of Lugansk region children and adolescents from affected areas to go on vacation to Lviv region.

98 adolescents and children from the most dangerous areas of Luhansk region departed today for Lviv region to spend summer time in “Tsarynka” recreation center.

Most of them are from socially vulnerable families, orphans, children from large families and other vulnerable groups aged eight to seventeen who lived in the areas badly affected by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO). The transfer, accommodation and recreation have been initiated by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine with the financial support provided by UNFPA country office in Ukraine.

The final destination for young travelers is Holiday Camp "Tsarynka" in Lviv region, where they will spend three weeks.

During their stay, children and adolescents will undergo psychological rehabilitation as well as sessions on safe behavior in the framework of an educational course "Grow Healthy", organized by UNFPA. Experienced psychologists and coaches will be working with Lugansk region youth to raise awareness on healthy lifestyle habits and avoiding risky behavior. The sightseeing trips, contests and socializing events to communicate with local peers are also in their agenda.

UNFPA in cooperation with charitable organization “Caritas Ukraine” also provided hygiene packages and essential goods to 400 families of internally displaced people from regions affected by ATO.
