The workshop was organized in response to the request for technical assistance UN Agencies received from the Ministry of health of Ukraine and the National project “New Life “ to support development of an effective monitoring and evaluation system (M&E) for the perinatal health care system reform process. The workshop brought together members of the working group created by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, representatives of regional perinatal health care centers and regional health care authorities with the aim to develop a common understanding of the basic M&E concepts and to jointly develop drafts of the concept of the M&E system for the perinatal health care system, including indicators.

The workshop was facilitated by the international expert Dr. Gelmius Siupsinskas jointly with national expert Mr. Oleksandr Zhyhinas of the Ukrainian Center for Disease Control.
