The curriculum was designed for the secondary and vocational schools students aged 14 to 17.
The curriculum was designed to develop skills and knowledge among adolescents to practice healthy lifestyles and protect their reproductive health as a basis for successful self-fulfillment, responsible attitudes towards family values, gender equality and future responsible parenthood.
The current generation of Ukrainian adolescents and young people face numerous health related threats. To name a few - high spread of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs and substance abuse, unintended pregnancy and abortions among adolescent girls, and spread of STI and HIV as a result of risky sexual behavior.
"We believe that school and family – two important social institutions – have a key role to play in breaking the vicious circle of unfortunate events leading to adverse health effects among adolescents and youth. That is why in Ukraine we are committed through our 5-year country programme to work with the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine, Ministry of Health of Ukraine, other stakeholders and partners to support the development of education programmes, curricula for schools and vocational training institutions", - the UNFPA Representative in Ukraine, Ms. Nuzhat Ehsan said presenting the curriculum.
The presentation was co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine. More than 50 representatives of education departments of the regional state administrations attended the event.
