Ukrainian capital has welcomed the participants of a series of three training workshops aimed at facilitating the gender approach implementation to the policy program documents at the national and regional levels. Experts of the State Service of Ukraine on HIV\AIDS and other socially dangerous diseases, ministries of social policy and education and science of Ukraine, UN system agencies and NGOs will provide the information on adopting of the international recommendation on gender mainstreaming during the development of HIV response action programs.
The workshops are designed for all 27 administrative units of Ukraine to train policy makers and staff from the region: AIDS Centres; Education departments; social services; Youth and family departments, and deputy Heads of regional CCM on how to mainstream gender in planning response to the HIV epidemic in Ukraine.
During the launch of the event today, UNFPA Representative for Ukraine Ms.Nuzhat Ehsan said: “It is very inspiring that thanks to the joint UN efforts, supported by State AIDS Service, the new National AIDS program for 2014-2018 in Ukraine will be gender-sensitive. Now it is extremely critical that this initiative is brought down to regional levels, and this is why this training is so important”.
