Representatives of the United Nations Population Fund and the UN Volunteers programme met with members of Youth Volunteer Academy in Kremenchuk

April 28, representatives of the UN Volunteers programme and the UN Population Fund in Ukraine together with Kremenchuk Deputy Mayor Olga Usanova and Chief of Staff Mayor’s Office Svitlana Pyshchyta had a meeting with the members Kremenchuk youth volunteer academy. They shared their experience about volunteering around the world, demonstrating by example the importance of helping people in need.

The discussion with the young volunteers was held around 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by the UN General Assembly in September 2015.Kremenchuk youth expressed their opinions on the priority of goals for young people in Ukraine and shared their vision on how to achieve them. In particular,the members of the Academy shared what they already do in the framework of SDGs and how they can become champions of sustainable development in theircity.

UNFPA has partnered with Kremenchuk youth community for the last two years. During this time, a number of youth projects were implemented in cooperation with local authorities and the Youth Parliament of Kremenchuk, including the Academy of volunteering, annual youth forum, competition of social video, campaigns to promote healthy lifestyle and many others.
